A new type of construction material is being used in many projects, including but not limited to bridge construction cofferdams, large-scale pipeline laying, temporary trench excavation, retaining walls for earth, water, and sand, and for docks, loading docks, retaining walls, and embankment protection.

This new type of steel material with exceptional performance is Larssen steel sheet piles, also known as U-shaped steel sheet piles. Steel sheet piles began to be produced in Europe in the early 20th century. In 1903, Japan first imported them for use in retaining walls at the Mitsui Honkan. Due to their exceptional properties, they were imported and used in large quantities in the 1923 Kanto Earthquake restoration project. With the rapid economic development of my country, steel sheet pile retaining walls have become recognized as a fast and environmentally friendly construction method, gaining recognition and development.

Before Larssen steel sheet pile construction, several checks are necessary:

1. Larssen steel sheet pile construction requires thorough familiarity with the construction plan and the removal and disposal of all underground and above-ground obstacles in the construction area.

2. Pre-inspection procedures must be strictly followed to check the positioning control lines (piles), standard horizontal piles, and the white lines of the trenches.

3. Clear warning signs should be posted at the construction site. During nighttime construction, adequate lighting should be provided. Construction schedules should be carefully planned, and waste soil and debris generated during excavation should be promptly disposed of.

4. Construction machinery and vehicles should be inspected beforehand to eliminate potential safety hazards, and repairs or reinforcements should be performed.

5. Where mechanical work is not possible, manual work such as slope adjustment and pit bottom cleaning should be performed under safety precautions.
