Medium-duty lightweight steel sheet piles include SZ-10, SZ-11, SZ-12, and others. Assembly should comply with the manufacturer's recommendations, project plans, and specifications. In excavated areas and hillside fill areas where the groundwater level has been determined, a drainage layer should be constructed behind and below the reinforced area. Scaffolding supported by a cantilever, crane, pulley, or any other device used for lifting materials is permitted, provided the scaffolding support platform and each individual member connected to the device are reinforced and supported to withstand the additional loads. For medium-duty steel sheet piles supported by metal soil reinforcement on roads treated with chemical de-icing in winter, an impermeable membrane should be placed beneath the road surface, directly above the first layer of soil reinforcement, to contain any liquid containing de-icing chemicals.

We offer SZ-14 and SZ-15 steel sheet piles. Silo fill should be well-graded, clean granular material with a maximum particle size of 2 inches or less, and not more than 10% (by weight) passing a No. 100 sieve. Personnel on scaffolding exposed to height hazards should be protected. All structures should include internal drainage to prevent saturation of the rebar backfill or to intercept any surface water containing corrosive materials (e.g., de-icing chemicals). We offer these intermediate lightweight steel sheets in ASTM-A-572 / GR.50 / ASTM-A-328 finishes with either bare or galvanized finishes.
