What are VL Steel Sheet Piles?

VL steel sheet piles are produced in the Czech Republic and come in two types: Larssen and Heosch. They are typically supplied as single piles, making them easy to handle, stack, and erect. Arelcormittal not only collaborated with the client, but Arcelor also frequently visited the site for on-site inspections and consultations during the project design and implementation phases. Tolerances: EN 10248-2; Steel grades: S 240 GP, S 270 GP, S 355 GP, in compliance with EN 10248-1. VL 601, VL 602, and VL 603 steel sheet piles are popular in Europe.

By prior arrangement, VL steel sheet piles can be supplied in interlocking pairs to minimize on-site handling and erection work. The wall system design took into account and adapted the preferred construction methods detailed by thyssenkrupp, while ensuring strict safety margins. VL steel sheet piles consist of two interlocked and fastened steel sheet piles to prevent displacement. However, it should be noted that interlocking pairs results in an asymmetrical shape, requiring care when stacking.

40 mm diameter holes are punched into the steel sheet piles according to the order. Models VL604, VL605, VL606, and VL607 are hot-rolled steel sheet piles. U-shaped piles are interlocked in pairs prior to delivery. The lifting holes at the ends of the piles allow for two possible orientations, as shown in Figure 1.14.4. This orientation can be changed by drilling the lifting holes.

The Port of Fujairah is planning to construct a new quay wall and related works on existing facilities. The pile type will be S-shaped punched steel sheet piles. They will be free-standing or crane-tied, weighing no more than 5,000 kg. The scope of work includes the following structures. The proposed VL steel sheet pile wall is an embedded steel sheet pile wall secured to an embedded steel sheet pile anchor wall by tie rods.
