Type IIW steel sheet piles are available from many steel manufacturers, such as FSP, GSP, ISP, JSP, KSP, NKSP, NS-SP, SKSP, TSP, JFE, and JFESP. They come in sizes of 600x130x10.3. We work closely with contractors to provide the most practical and economical Type IIW steel sheet piles.
The steel bars should be covered with at least three inches of concrete to prevent corrosion caused by seawater infiltration. Steel bars have proven particularly effective in basement structures, such as those used in underground parking garages.
SP-IIW steel sheet piles are ideal for basement wall construction because they require minimal construction width. All designs and calculations are completed by ESC and submitted to the contractor for approval. For greater depths, prestressed concrete piles are recommended. In most cases, this limits the length above the mudline to 18 to 101 meters. Concrete piles are significantly less expensive than steel piles, but depth restrictions apply.
All materials were manufactured at Hanzi's Chinese factory and delivered in 2007. ESC constructed a custom wall system that allows for the main columns and infill steel sheet piles (three in number) to be set at 3.2-meter centers. This design is a reconfiguration of ESC's H-pile combination series wall. Material strength limits the length of the concrete sheet piles to approximately 15 to 18 meters. SP-2W sheet piles are also difficult to handle and cannot be driven using standard equipment. Their properties are utilized in both temporary and permanent situations, resulting in significant cost and programmer savings. The sheet piles can be driven tightly into the site boundaries, and the wall thickness is minimal, maximizing the available parking area and minimizing the cost per parking space.
