Hot-rolled steel sheet piles PU7, PU9, and PU11 can be excavated using large electric shovels, eliminating the need for less efficient excavation methods such as grab excavators and manual excavation. Sheet piles PU16 and PU20 simulate hydrostatic pore water pressure by defining the hydrostatic pressure at a point as proportional to its depth below the water table. This allows for freer movement within the excavation. The unit weight of the water can be modified using a dialog box if necessary.
The initial PU7 and PU9 pile plates for the PU11 pullback system are higher, while PU16 is due to the economy of unimpeded excavation with PU20. If a total pore pressure distribution in addition to this PU9 triangular hydrostatic pressure distribution is required, the user must also enter additional pore pressures for each layer. Lateral earth pressures acting on the sheet piles can be calculated using any conventionally recognized method, using the static coefficient instead of the effective coefficient. Water table PU20 is only valid in the phase selected using the phase editor.
