What are Type IVW Steel Sheet Piles?

This wall is part of the Type IVW sheet pile program, which aims to help protect and restore lakes, ranging from structural interventions like walls to land-use management practices to reduce nutrient loss from farmland.

Type IVW steel sheet piles are subject to regular review, and their shape may undergo slight changes. Therefore, users are advised to check the thyssenkrupp website to ensure they are using the latest pile types. However, due to environmental concerns, the types of solutions permitted for marine projects are significantly restricted. If piles longer than 31 meters are required, they can be spliced on-site to achieve the required length.

To protect SP-IVW steel sheet piles from attack by marine borers or fungi, they can be impregnated with a creosote-coal tar solution or other chemical solutions. Hot-rolled steel sheet piles can be up to 31 meters long (HZ steel sheet piles can be up to 33 meters long), but extra care must be taken when handling longer and lighter sections.

In warm climates, wood is susceptible to attack by marine borers such as shipworms, shipworms, and other crustaceans. The performance of wood as a seawall material is inconsistent and difficult to control. Some wooden structures can last for decades or even centuries; however, many collapse within a few years.

The wall's effectiveness is currently being closely monitored to assess its effectiveness and whether wildlife is adversely affected, including a five-year fisheries monitoring program. SP-4W steel sheet piles are also available in other properties and specifications, such as FSP, GSP, ISP, JSP, KSP, NKSP, NS-SP, SKSP, TSP, JFE, and JFESP.
